Welcome to the SALT Cymru project's website.

The Welsh Assembly Government has recently announced a grant of £119,944 over two years so as to establish SALT Cymru as a special interest group in the field of Speech and Language Technologies. The group's co-ordinator will be the Language Technologies Unit at Canolfan Bedwyr, Bangor University.

Funding was received from the Welsh Assembly's Academia for Business programme(A4B). The aim is to bring together academic researchers and industry so as to share information and promote research and development in the field.

This website will develop into a portal for all the group's activities, including information about networking events, seminars and conferences.

This project follows a report on the present state of SALT research in Wales that was commissioned so as to enlighten future Welsh Assembly Government policy towards SALT. The report and executive summary are available by following the SALT Cymru Report link on the left

Slides from a presentation given on the report at ITWales can be found here. .

If you research, develop, or use SALT, we would like to hear from you.

You can contact us directly through the contact link on the left.

Remember, this is your chance to influence the development of the Speech and Language Technologies sector in Wales .
